Worrying is a waste of time

‘Tis the season of raspberries and although it’s not one of my favorite fruits, picking it and eating right away is so much fun. Since those goodies started getting ripe I always look forward to going back to the allotment to pick them. I and my husband would race toward the raspberries to get the best ones. But we would end up sharing with each other.

Last week we were hoping to pick the last ones to ripe. But to our dismay, someone else had been picking them. My husband was annoyed by those birds who had picked our last berries. However, a thought came upon me. Those birds need to eat as well. They can’t plant nor sow but their Creator sustains them.

And I thought again, why can’t we be like the birds? They are so carefree. They don’t worry and they are free. On the other hands, those birds do need to work it out to get food. But their deligence is not futile because they don’t die starving.

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:27
