The Vision of Sir Launfall

Published by dzanang under reflection Edit This

This story was written by Sir Russel Lowell. There was a commotion in the kingdom about the missing Holy Grail. Everyone wanted to find it including the king himself. So the king decided he wanted to find the Holy Grail which means leaving his throne and facing all difficulties but he was so much determined to do it.

On the eve of his journey out into the world he told his servants that he would sleep outside his bedroom. He took off his cloak and didn’t even use a pillow under his head.

The next day he set out to search and found a beggar at the bridge. He tossed a silver coin and carried on. It was spring when he started and now it’s winter. He still didn’t find the missing Holy Grail so he decided to go back to his kingdom. But at the bridge he was barred for he was not recognized by the guards. He was young when he left and how he’s bent and bearded. Then he was greeted by the same beggar when he started his search. This time the king has learnt all the hardships and they taught him to be nice and kind. He shared his mouldy bread and used his wooden cup to scoop some ice to give to the beggar. He was observing the kind look on the beggar’s countenance and as soon as he touched the wooden cup it turned out to be the Holy Grail. His eyes widened and his mouth gaped. At this he woke up and told everyone that he has found the missing Holy Grail. He has found it in his heart and now he knows exactly what to do.

We can be like Sir Launfall wanting to do great things but we can do great things in small ways.
