Running away from God
Have you ever felt like Jonah running away from the task God had asked him to do? He felt that the responsibility placed on his shoulder was too much and he couldn’t afford to think that he would be ignored or worse jeered at.
In this scientific-laden generation where everything should be explained and defined explicitly I find it sometimes difficult to stand up for my belief. Not that I am getting swayed by the big bang and evolution theories but almost everybody around me including the newspapers are all shouting out loud about Darwin’s idea. According to others it’s more practical to believe it than the creation theory.
I feel that I am like Jonah who is running away from the task commisioned to me–to tell the world what I believe. I must admit that I sometimes get overwhelmed by the amount of informative materialsthey dissiminate to the knowledg-hungry people.
How did we lost track? To think back to the time of Adam till Noah I am more surprised that even as early as then people already turned away from God and worshipped idols. I don’t believe they were not told how this world began.
Maybe it’s just that they too were running away from God. They felt that they could avoid the consequences of their actions if they just turn away from God. Like if I did something wrong in this country I can just leave at once to escape arrest.
Now the ongoing experiment in near Geneva in Switzerland they claim that they will find the answer to man’s biggest questions. I am anticipating with great interest what they will find out.
Whatever we do we can’t run away from God. When Adam and Eve hid God looked for them. When Jonah tried to detour from Nineveh, God sent a big fish to take him where he was asked to go.
He is a might God and I’m glad that He is my God.
