Jochebed: Mother of Moses
She was brave. She knew her baby was going to be used by God someday. When the haughty Egyptians started killing all baby boys of the Hebrew people, she wove a basket, put her baby in, and let the water cradle him away from the murderers’ hands.
When the princess of Egypt found the basket she knew it was a Hebrew baby but with God’s providence she fell in love with the adorable infant and adopted it as her own. The inconspicuous sister appeared from behind the tall grass and again with divine guidance bravely approached the princess and offered to find a nanny for the baby.
Knowing in her heart that God was at work, Jochebed raised Moses in a Hebrew way and taught him to obey and keep in his heart God’s precepts.
Hebrews 11:23 says “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.”
